Jessica Scott Kerrin is an author best known for Martin Bridge, a highly acclaimed series of award-winning adventure books for boys. Lower the Trap and A Narrow Escape are the first two installments in her latest series called The Lobster Chronicles,.
Jessica is also a dynamic and accomplished speaker and is considered to be an expert on what boys read. She offers presentations and workshops for adults on the following topics:
- The editing process
- What boys like to read
- Creating strong characters
- Developing story ideas
- How to write a series

Jessica has presented across Canada and the United States, including the International Readers’ Association conference, the annual conference for the Canadian Society of Authors, Illustrators and Performers, and the annual conference for the Association of Teachers of English of Nova Scotia. She teaches workshops on developing characters for elementary school readers in partnership with the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia. In addition, she has served as a judge for many national and Atlantic Canadian writing competitions.
Jessica is a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada, the Canadian Children’s Book Centre; CANSCAIP, an alumni member of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and the Writer’s Federation of Nova Scotia.
